LIPOSUCTION & BODY TITE

Liposuction is a surgical procedure that permanently removes fat from the underlying skin through very small incisions.

To further skin tightening, a treatment known as Body Tite applies direct heat energy to the connections of the skin to the underlying muscle, allowing additional skin tightening along with Liposuction. This is a great way to achieve skin tightening without the addition of a large scar.

Who is a good candidate for Liposuction?
Liposuction is a great procedure for improving contour in almost any area of the body that has fullness under the skin. Liposuction alone is a good procedure for fat removal in patients without a significant amount of loose skin associated with the areas of excess fullness/fat. Those patients with excess skin will need additional procedures to remove this skin (example, Tummy Tuck for excess skin in the abdomen). It cannot remove large amounts of excess skin, but it can often tighten skin to a degree. This skin tightening can be assisted with different technologies that use laser, ultrasound, or radiofrequency. Liposuction is a valuable tool for body contouring and is often paired with other procedures such as Tummy Tuck, Brachioplasty, Thigh Lift, and Upper/ Lower Body Lift.

Who is a good candidate for adding a Body Tite treatment with Liposuction?
Anyone who wants/needs more skin tightening in an area receiving Liposuction, but does not want the scar required for skin removal, should ask their Plastic Surgeon if they are a good candidate for a Body Tite Treatment at the same time as Liposuction. Liposuction alone allows for some skin tightening, but in areas that have lost elasticity, adding Body Tite treatments will decrease the chance of loose skin after treatment. Common areas with skin laxity that may be great candidates for this treatment include skin folds of the upper back and abdomen and loose skin in the upper arms, thighs, and neck.

For patients who want small amounts treated (for example, submental region, love handles, arms), liposuction and/or skin tightening options can be safely performed in many cases in the awake in office setting.

What is "Lipo 360"?

Lipo 360 is a popular term that means liposuction of the belly and back at the same time. In other words, the liposuction is performed "360 degrees around the patient". Patients that are good candidates for this have good skin quality and not a ton of excess skin but have increased fullness and a poor waistline. this procedure is often paired with Brazilian Butt Lifts (fat grafting to the buttocks), because improving the waistline and adding some volume to the buttocks with the same fat that was removed during 360 lipo can lead to significant improvements in the appearance and shape of the buttocks.

What should a patient expect during and after Liposuction?

After Liposuction, it is normal to have soreness and swelling in treated areas. Your doctor will apply compression garments for several weeks to help improve this and to give you the optimal outcome.

What results can a patient expect from Liposuction?

Patients should expect a small amount of skin tightening (as long as skin was not significantly loose and sagging before the procedure), and a significant improvement in fullness in the treated areas. Liposuction delivers better fat removal and reduction in fullness than non invasive treatments for fat removal.
